Top 5 Thanksgiving Traditions

Top 5 Thanksgiving Traditions

One of the biggest holidays in the United States -- a time for family, friends, food, and being thankful. People across the country gather on Thanksgiving to spend time with friends and family, enjoy a delicious meal, and reflect on all the things they are grateful for. Thanksgiving is celebrated in a variety of ways, and we are here to share our top 5 Thanksgiving traditions.

Eat a Traditional Thanksgiving Meal

Thanksgiving Day would be incomplete without the traditional meal. Some must-eat foods on Thanksgiving are turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, and green bean casserole. Remember to make some room for pumpkin pie for dessert!

Share What You’re Thankful For

Thanksgiving is the perfect time to reflect on the past year with all the people most important to you. Whether you all share what you’re most thankful for during the meal or after dessert, go around the room and share one by one.

Shop 'til You Drop on Black Friday

The day after Thanksgiving, stores across the country have huge sales. Black Friday has traditionally been a time you wait in line for hours, getting great discounts to begin your Christmas shopping. Recently, Black Friday has changed with the rise of e-commerce, but the tradition won’t be going away anytime soon.

Give Back

Many communities across the United States hold annual food drives to help individuals in need. These food drives collect non-perishable foods for those in need. The organizations that hold these drives also host Thanksgiving dinners so that everyone can enjoy a warm meal on this special holiday.

Be Grateful for Friendsgiving

Friendsgiving is a newer tradition, but a great one. It is a time to share a meal with your friends before traveling home to your family. These Friendsgiving events are especially important for individuals who don’t have family nearby or can’t afford to travel home to see them.

While every family has their own Thanksgiving traditions, they are all special and important. Here at Merrick Surgical, we hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your friends and family! Remember, we are most thankful for YOU!
